Join the Delaware Statewide Submerged Aquatic Vegetation Workgroup (DeSSAV) for an introductory webinar focused on identifying Delaware’s underwater grasses and learning how you can contribute to statewide monitoring efforts through the “All Eyes on SAV – Delaware” iNaturalist project.

This virtual session will provide participants with a basic overview of submerged aquatic vegetation (SAV), why these habitats are important to Delaware’s waterways, and how community observations can support science, conservation, and restoration efforts statewide. Attendees will learn how to use Delaware’s SAV-specific identification key to distinguish common species found in freshwater, brackish, and tidal habitats, along with tips for photographing and documenting observations in the field.


The webinar will also walk participants through how to upload observations to the “All Eyes on SAV – Delaware” iNaturalist project, allowing anyone with a smartphone or camera to contribute meaningful ecological data with a low-barrier, low-energy commitment.
